Commissioned by the Zellweger and Honnerlag families, the master builders Grubenmann and Langenegger in collaboration with the Moosbrugger stucco plasterers, created a unique ensemble of Baroque and Neoclassical architecture in just a few decades of the 18th century. These French and Italian-inspired palaces in the middle of an Appenzell village are reminders of the cultures that converged in Trogen at that time, thanks to a textile trade which spanned Europe.
